The Season of Advent

This Advent is unlike any in recent memory.  If you are looking to find a sense of peace and calm this season, we hope that you will join us for the Advent activities listed below.  Our worship services will remain online only, and we have taken special precautions to not only make this season meaningful, but also keep people safe.  If you are looking for a church this Advent and Christmas season, we hope that you will join us at First Baptist Bristol.

2020 Advent Calendar

Sunday, November 22:  Chrismon Drop-Off

Drop off your homemade Chrismons, pick your Advent Devotional book, and grab cookie (or two) to go.  We'll be in front of the breezeway from 2-3:30 PM to greet you, take your picture with your ornaments, and give you a holiday treat.

Sunday, November 29:  1st Sunday of Advent

Join us online for a modified Hanging of the Greens service at 11 AM.  In this service we will highlight some of our sanctuary decorations and explain the meaning behind them.

Sunday, December 6:  2nd Sunday of Advent

Join us online for a modified Service of Lessons and Carols at 11 AM.  This service will showcase the musical gifts of numerous church members as they lead us in some of the music that makes this season so special.

Sunday, December 13:  3rd Sunday of Advent

Join us online for a special Advent service at 11 AM, and don't miss the premiere of our Kidz Christmas Movie that evening!  We will also have our annual churchwide Christmas dinner that evening.  The meal won't be quite as formal and we won't have our usual warm fellowship, but we will have to-go plates that you can pick up for dinner.  Information on how to sign up for dinner and on how to watch the Kidz Christmas Movie will be sent to the congregation via email.

Sunday, December 20:  4th Sunday of Advent

Join us online for a special Advent service at 11 AM.

Thursday, December 24:  Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Join us online for our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 5:30 PM.  This year we're encouraging everyone to dress up, have their communion elements prepared, have their candles ready, and then join us on Zoom.  The Zoom link will be emailed out to the congregation.  This service will also be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube.  We'll be using Zoom this year so everyone can still experience part of the togetherness that makes this service so special.

As a downtown congregation, we're excited to be a part of the revitalization of State Street, not only in terms of physical renovations, but more importantly, in terms of spiritual renewal.
