Welcome

Welcome to the home page of First Baptist, Bristol! Whether you have arrived here on purpose or by surprise, we’re glad you’ve come!

This page offers a brief introduction to our congregation, with more in-depth information available by clicking on the links you see in the blue banner on the left. There you will find information about our history, our statement of faith, our schedule of activities, our weekly newsletter, introductions to our staff, audio and text sermons, and much more.

If your quest at this point has more to do with finding faith than with finding faith community, we invite you to follow this link to for an interactive explanation of what it means to believe in Jesus Christ, and how you can make that commitment right at your keyboard.

First Baptist, Bristol is literally on the state line between Tennessee and Virginia, with our sanctuary being in Virginia by about thirty feet! Founded in 1859, our congregation has grown with the city, and we serve, not just Bristol, but the entire northeast area of the Tri-Cities region. The Tri-Cities metropolitan area includes Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City, Tennessee, with a regional population of nearly half a million people.

As a downtown congregation, we’re excited to be a part of the revitalization of State Street, not only in terms of physical renovations, but more importantly, in terms of spiritual renewal. We’re growing into a new chapter of our congregation’s life, continuing to offer traditional worship and Bible Study on Sunday mornings, but also stretching into contemporary worship and small group Bible Study at other days and times as well. Are you searching for a life that matters, and for relationships that last? We invite you to discover what your heart is searching for . . . with us!
